10-25-2026 Sermon Title: What Are God’s 5 Love Languages For YOU?
Main Scripture: 1 John 4:9–11 (NKJV)
“9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Introduction
People express love in different ways. Some speak encouraging words. Others give gifts, spend time together, or show love through acts of service.
The Bible does not give us a list called “God’s five love languages,” but it clearly shows us how God expresses His love. Today, we will consider five of those ways, beginning with the greatest expression of all: Jesus Christ.
We may sometimes ask, “God, do You really love me?” His answer begins at the cross.
1. God Loves Us Through Jesus—His Greatest Gift
John 3:16 (KJV)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
God’s love moved Him to give. He sent Jesus to live among us, bear our sins, die on the cross, and rise again so that we could have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus did not wait for us to become worthy before loving us. He came because we needed a Savior.
Application: When you question your worth, remember what God gave for you. Receive His love by placing your faith in Jesus Christ.
2. God Loves Us Through His Presence
Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV)
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Love makes room to be present. God does not watch our lives from a distance without concern. Through His Spirit, He dwells in His people and walks with them.
His presence does not mean we will never face loneliness, grief, or trouble. It means those experiences cannot separate us from His love.
Psalm 46:1 (NKJV)
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Application: Make time for prayer and quiet fellowship with God. Bring Him your honest thoughts, including the ones you struggle to express.
3. God Loves Us Through His Word and Guidance
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
God loves us enough to speak truth into our lives. His Word reveals His character, teaches us how to live, warns us of danger, and directs us toward what is good.
Sometimes His Word comforts us. Sometimes it corrects us. Both can be expressions of love.
Hebrews 12:6 (NKJV)
“For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”
A loving Father cares about the direction His children are going. We should receive His correction humbly, while being careful not to assume that every hardship is punishment.
Application: Read Scripture with a willing heart. Ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me, and how should I respond?”
Preaching point: God loves you enough to guide your steps and correct your course.
4. God Loves Us Through His Faithful Care
1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
God cares about the burdens we carry: our families, our daily needs, our health, and our uncertain tomorrows.
Jesus taught us to ask our Father for daily bread. We can bring ordinary needs to Him because His love reaches into ordinary life.
Matthew 6:26 (NKJV) (SCRIPTURE FROM LAST WEEK)
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
His care may come through strength to endure, help from another person, wisdom for a decision, or provision we could not foresee. Difficulty is not evidence that His love has failed.
Application: Turn your worries into prayers, and allow God to use you to meet someone else’s needs.
5. God Loves Us Through His Forgiveness and Mercy
1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
God knows our failures, yet He invites us to come to Him in repentance. Because of Jesus, forgiveness is available. We do not have to hide behind excuses or remain trapped in shame.
In the story of the prodigal son, the father welcomed his returning child with compassion. That picture reminds us of the joy of coming home to God.
Psalm 103:12 (NKJV)
As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Application: Confess what you have been hiding. Receive God’s forgiveness, and extend forgiveness to others.
Preaching point: Your failure does not have to be the final chapter.
