Introduction
Today, I want to preach from the subject: “Micro Choices in Life.”
Main Text: Galatians 6:7–9
Supporting Scriptures: Deuteronomy 30:19 Proverbs 4:26; Luke 16:10; Daniel 1:8; Joshua 24:15
A micro choice is a small decision that may appear insignificant now. It is the choice to pray or not to pray, to forgive or hold a grudge, to speak kindly or respond harshly, to tell the truth or bend it, to obey God or delay obedience.
Every day, we make hundreds of choices. Many of them seem too small to matter. However, every choice builds upon another choice.
We live in a brick house. It was built one brick at a time enough bricks are placed together, a house appears. One step may not look like a journey, but every journey is completed one step at a time. In the same way, one small decision may not seem capable of changing our lives, but repeated decisions eventually establish our direction.
I was honored to speak to the HS students at Providence Groove Back To School Prayer session. The main theme was making good decisions and choices in life.
Our lives are not shaped only by the major decisions we make.
They are also shaped by the small choices we repeatedly make when nobody is watching.
Example: We were at the beach… Annette had gone ahead…. The beach is her HAPPY PLACE… I was in the car and this couple came to their car beside me…
(I LIVED OUT OF MY TRUCK FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I KNOW HOW THAT FEELS. BUT IT WAS BECAUSE I MADE SERIEAS OF BAD CHOICES)

Galatians 6:7–9 declares:
“7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Every choice is a seed. Every habit is a harvest. What we repeatedly sow will eventually grow.
1. Every Choice Plants a Seed
Paul tells us, “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
The law of sowing and reaping applies to every area of life. If we sow kindness, we create an atmosphere in which kindness can grow. If we sow anger, bitterness will begin to take root. If we sow prayer, faith becomes stronger. If we sow compromise, our convictions become weaker. IF YOU WANT A FRIEND BE A FRIEND, IF YOU DON’T WANT FRIENDS DON’T BE ONE.
A farmer does not plant corn and expect to harvest apples. In the same way, we cannot continually sow disobedience and expect to reap spiritual peace.
We cannot sow neglect into a marriage and expect closeness.
We cannot sow harsh words into our children and expect confidence.
We cannot sow dishonesty and expect trust.
We cannot sow spiritual laziness and expect spiritual strength.
We cannot sow unforgiveness and expect freedom.
REMEMBER THIS:
The harvest may not appear immediately. That is what makes micro choices so deceptive. We make a choice today, and nothing seems to happen. We make the same choice tomorrow, and everything still appears normal.
But beneath the surface, a seed is growing.
Good seeds and bad seeds both require time to produce a harvest. That is why we must not judge a decision only by what happens immediately. We must ask, “What will this choice produce if I continue making it?”
2. Small Choices Establish Our Direction
Proverbs 4:26 says: Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.
When we think about our future, we often focus on our destination. God also wants us to pay attention to the direction in which we are walking.
A slight turn in the wrong direction may not seem dangerous at first. However, if we continue traveling that way, the distance between where we are and where we should be will become greater.
CHRISTIANS….… HEAR THIS:
Nobody suddenly wakes up spiritually cold. Spiritual coldness usually develops through a series of small choices.
One day, we decide not to pray.
Another day, we decide not to read the Bible.
Then we decide that worship is no longer a priority.
Later, we begin entertaining thoughts we once rejected.
Eventually, we find ourselves far from the place where we began.
It was not one giant leap. It was a succession of micro choices.
The same principle works in a positive direction.
One prayer may seem small.
One verse may seem small.
One act of obedience may seem small.
One word of encouragement may seem small.
One decision to forgive may seem small.
But every Godly choice turns our hearts toward God. When those choices build upon one another, they produce spiritual strength, integrity, and maturity.
The direction of our lives is determined by the direction of our daily choices.
3. Small Choices Become Habits
A choice repeated long enough becomes a habit. A habit continued long enough begins to shape our character. Our character influences our future.
The process often looks like this:
Thoughts influence choices.
Choices become actions.
Actions become habits.
Habits shape character.
Character influences destiny.
This is why the enemy often approaches us through things that appear small. He may tell us, “It is only one time. It is only one conversation. It is only one lie. It is only one compromise. Nobody will know.”
But Satan DOES NOT shows us the destination of the first wrong step.
He shows us the pleasure but hides the pain.
He shows us the moment but hides the consequences.
He shows us the seed but hides the harvest.
Song of Solomon 2:15 speaks about “the little foxes, that spoil the vines.”
Catch for us the foxes,
the little foxes
that ruin the vineyards,
our vineyards that are in bloom.
It was not necessarily the large animals that destroyed the vineyard. The little foxes could slip through unnoticed and damage the roots.
Sometimes it is the “little” things that cause the greatest spiritual damage:

A little resentment we refuse to release
-
A little gossip we continue to repeat
-
A little dishonesty we try to justify
-
A little pride that keeps us from apologizing
-
A little compromise that weakens our convictions
-
A little neglect that slowly damages a relationship
We must pay attention to the little foxes because small compromises rarely remain small.
4. Faithfulness in Small Things Prepares Us for Greater Things
Jesus said in Luke 16:10:
10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
We often ask God for greater opportunities, but God watches how we handle the opportunities we already have.
We ask for a larger ministry, but are we faithful where we currently serve?
We ask for more resources, but are we wise with what we already possess?
We ask for greater influence, but are our private lives consistent with our public words?
We ask God to use us greatly, but are we obeying Him in the small things?
David was faithful with a few sheep before he was entrusted with a nation.
Joseph was faithful in Potiphar’s house and in prison before he was elevated in Egypt. Ruth was faithful while gathering leftover grain before God placed her in the family line of Jesus Christ.
The small assignment may be preparation for something greater.
Do not despise the small beginning.
Do not ignore the quiet assignment.
Do not underestimate the value of doing the right thing when nobody applauds you.
Every small act of faithfulness tells God, “You can trust me with more.”
5. One Micro Choice Can Interrupt a Destructive Pattern
Daniel 1:8 says:
8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.
We must decide:
“I will honor God even when it is unpopular.”
“I will tell the truth even when lying would be easier.”
“I will forgive even when I am still hurting.”
“I will pray even when I do not feel like praying.”
“I will obey God even when I do not understand His plan.”
One Godly choice can interrupt generations of destructive behavior.
Someone must decide, “The anger stops with me.”
Someone must decide, “The addiction stops with me.”
Someone must decide, “The abuse stops with me.”
Someone must decide, “The bitterness stops with me.”
Someone must decide, “With God’s help, my family will take a different path.”
You may not be responsible for how a destructive pattern began, but God can empower you to choose how it continues.
A new legacy can begin with one surrendered choice.
6. Our Choices Affect Other People (BIG ONE)
We often think that our choices belong only to us, but our decisions have consequences for other people.
Adam’s choice affected humanity.
David’s choices affected his household.
Ruth’s choice affected future generations.
Esther’s choice helped save her people.
Jesus’ obedience opened the door of salvation to the world.
Our choices create ripples. The words we speak, the attitudes we demonstrate, and the priorities we establish influence the people around us.
Children learn not only from what adults tell them but also from what they see adults repeatedly choose.
They watch how we respond when we are angry.
They watch whether we keep our promises.
They watch whether worship is a priority.
They watch how we treat people who cannot benefit us.
They watch whether our faith continues outside the church building.
consequences may be eternal.
7. When We Have Made Wrong Choices, Grace Gives Us Another Choice
NEVER FORGET THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES TO ALL ACTIONS
Some may hear this message and immediately remember choices they regret.
Perhaps you chose the wrong relationship.
Perhaps you spoke words you wish you could retrieve.
Perhaps you ignored God’s warning.
Perhaps one choice created consequences you are still experiencing.
The good news is that failure does not have to be the final chapter. (AMEN TO THAT)
Do not become discouraged.
Seeds grow in hidden places before the harvest becomes visible. God is working even when you cannot yet see the results.
Keep praying.
Keep serving.
Keep forgiving.
Keep giving.
Keep believing.
Keep choosing what is right.
One faithful choice builds upon another. In due season, there will be a harvest.
Conclusion
Life is a collection of choices.
The life we are living today has been influenced by choices made yesterday. The life we will experience tomorrow will be influenced by the choices we make today.
Every choice builds upon another.
One choice becomes an action.
Repeated actions become habits.
Habits shape character.
Character influences direction.
Direction leads toward a destination.
Do not say, “It is only a small choice.”
A small hinge can move a large door.
A small rudder can direct a great ship.
A small seed can become a great tree.
A small spark can start a great fire.
A small act of faith can change the direction of a life.
You may not be able to make every decision about your future today, but you can make the next right choice.
Choose prayer instead of worry.
Choose forgiveness instead of bitterness.
Choose truth instead of deception.
Choose discipline instead of excuses.
Choose humility instead of pride.
Choose faith instead of fear.
Choose obedience instead of compromise.
Choose Jesus instead of the world.
The big direction of your life is being formed through the micro choices you make every day.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that our choices matter. Forgive us for the times we have treated small acts of disobedience as though they were unimportant. Open our eyes to see the seeds we are planting through our words, attitudes, habits, and decisions.
Give us wisdom to recognize the right path and courage to walk in it. Help us choose prayer over worry, forgiveness over bitterness, truth over dishonesty, humility over pride, and obedience over compromise.
For those carrying regret because of past choices, remind them that Your grace offers forgiveness and a new beginning. Give them strength to take the next right step.
Help us remain faithful when we cannot yet see the harvest. May every micro choice draw us closer to You and establish a godly legacy for those who come behind us.
Today, we choose life. Today, we choose obedience. Today, we choose Jesus.
