GUEST NOTES!
02-15-2026 Sermon Title: “You Have Lost Your First Love

You have lost your first love
Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”— Revelation 2:4 (KJV) What “lost your first love” means It means you’re still doing church things, but your passion, intimacy, and devotion to Jesus has faded.
You haven’t stopped believing…You haven’t stopped serving…But your heart is no longer burning like it once did.
(HAS YOUR HEART EVER BURNED WITH PASSION FOR THE LORD?) This is the heart of the message. You still have religion, but you lost the relationship.
Signs you’ve left your first love
Here are some Bible-based signs:

1. You still work, but you don’t worship
The church in Ephesus was busy, disciplined, and doctrinally sound — but cold.
You can serve faithfully and still be spiritually dry.

2. Prayer becomes routine instead of relationship
You pray out of habit, not hunger.

3. The Word stops exciting you
The Bible becomes information, not revelation.

4. You remember what God used to do
You live off old testimonies instead of fresh encounters.

5. Your heart is more stirred by the world than by God
Entertainment, success, and distractions start replacing the presence of God.

What causes people to lose their first love? Common reasons:
• spiritual burnout
• church hurt
• unconfessed sin
• disappointment with God
• life distractions
• slow compromise

The enemy doesn’t always pull people into sin overnight…‘It’s a “SLOW BURN’Sometimes he just makes them lukewarm slowly.

“The key word is “left”Jesus didn’t say, “you lost it” like an accident. He said: “You have LEFT your first love.”
That means it was a choice over time.
NOTE!! Here’s something that should brighten your spirit, YOU can’t leave something you never haave!

Not one big fall…but a slow drift. Just like a marriage can grow cold, a believer can grow distant.

How do you get your first love back?
Jesus gives the cure in Revelation 2:5:“Remember… Repent… and do the first works.”
1. Remember Think back to when you first loved Jesus:
• when worship made you cry Hugging miss Rush last Sunday made me cry Thinking about How Blessed I am make me cry.

Remembering when my life was in shambles and Jesus carried me through the storm.
• when prayer was real
• when you couldn’t wait to go to church

2. Repent means “turn back.
”Not just saying sorry — but changing direction.

3. Return to the first works
Do what you did in the beginning:
• pray with hunger
• worship with passion
• read the Word daily
• spend quiet time with God
• obey quickly
• serve with joy

Bottom line
Losing your first love means:
You still have the form of Christianity, but you’ve lost the fire.
And Jesus is saying: “I want your heart again.” Because God doesn’t want you to just be a church member…
He wants you to be a lover of His presence.
Father, in the name of Jesus, forgive us for the times we have drifted away from You. Forgive us for allowing distractions, busyness, and the cares of life to replace our passion for Your presence.
Lord, restore our first love. Rekindle the fire in our hearts.
Renew our hunger for Your Word and our desire to worship and pray.
Bring us back to our first works and revive us again. Let our hearts belong fully to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
