GUEST NOTES!!
02-22-2026 Sermon Title: “Sixteen and Surrendered

Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NIV)

Remember your Creator  in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say,  “I find no pleasure in them”—

1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)

2 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Introduction

Let’s go back in time when you around 16 years old

  • Driving permits

  • Peer pressure

  • Popularity

  • Sports

  • Fitting in

But at 16 years old, I had an encounter that changed my eternity.

I wasn’t thinking about theology.

I wasn’t thinking about ministry.

I wasn’t thinking about preaching.

I didn’t knew or realize I needed Jesus

Never went to church as a family

I. At 16, I Thought I Knew Life

At 16, you think you’re grown.

You’ve got strength.

You’ve got plans.

You’ve got dreams.

You’re looking at the future, I remember saying I can’t wait until I can be own my own

But what you don’t have is perspective.

I had ambition.

I had talent.

I had friends.

I had direction.

But deep down, I didn’t have peace.  I WAS ALWAYS ANGRY WITH SOMEONE OR JUST THE WORLD

Proverbs 14:12 says:

There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.

I believe I was headed that way…..

At 16, life seems long.

Choices seem small.

Sin seems harmless.

Teenagers:    Listen to this.

The decisions you make at 16 can shape the man or woman you become at 60.

II. God Started Dealing With My Heart

Sunday Morning July 1977  Armstrong Hosing Project Rocky Mount NC, HOT!!!!

SAY THIS AFTER MY TESTIMONY

When you give Jesus your youth,

He blesses your adulthood. WILL YOU STRUGGLE WITH LIFE YES, BUT HE IS WITH YOU

I didn’t just get saved from sin —

I got saved for purpose.

The same God who calls adults

calls teenagers.

And the greatest gift you can give God

is not your leftovers —

but your first years.

I said yes at 16.

And that yes is still carrying me today.

Through:

  • Success

  • Pressure

  • Temptation

  • Opportunity

  • Leadership

  • Responsibility

And I stand here today, not perfect, not flawless, but preserved.   Because at 16,    I surrendered.

ALL OF THIS START WITH BECOMING A CHRISTIAN

  1. I realize that everyone is comfortable with a public profession of faith in Jesus. If you want the opportunity for salvation is a small intimate environment

Jesus,
I know that I need You.
I believe You died for my sins

and rose again to give me new life.
Today, I turn from my old ways

and give my life fully to You.
Please forgive me of my sins,

change me,………and lead me ……from this day forward.
I trust You as my Savior,

and I choose to follow You as my Lord.
Thank You for loving me

 and saving me.
Amen.

Luke 15:10

10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
